| 🌧️☀️ Weather the Storm, Win the Day Howdy Market Family, Rain or shine, the market must go on — and so do you. At some point, every vendor has had that moment: staring at the radar, hoping the clouds hold back, wondering if it’s even worth setting up. But the truth is, some of the most meaningful, memorable, and even profitable market days happen in less-than-perfect weather. Why? Because showing up when others don’t… matters. Customers see it. Fellow vendors feel it. And your business grows stronger for it. Weather challenges aren’t just something to endure — they’re a chance to stand out, build trust, and show the heart behind your hustle. When you show up prepared, confident, and consistent, you send a clear message: "My business is reliable. My brand is committed. My booth is worth showing up for." This week’s newsletter is all about turning rain clouds into growth moments — with smart strategies, simple gear tips, and a powerful mindset that reminds us all: 👉 Vendors don’t just sell products. They lead with presence. Let’s weather the storm and win the day — together. —Bill Davenport Founder, Anchored Market Ventures Founder, Florida Alliance of Farmers Markets |

💡 Vendor Success Tips of the Week🎯 Vendor Tip 1️⃣: Weather-Ready in 60 Seconds — Fast Setup for Sudden Storms Summer weather can flip in an instant. That’s why having a “Quick-Cover Kit” on hand is a game-changer for vendors who want to protect their products and look professional — even when the rain hits mid-market. Here’s how to build one: Clear shower curtain liners or heavy-duty plastic tarps – Lightweight, transparent, and quick to drape over your tables and displays. Large binder clips or tarp clamps – Clip your covers securely to tables, shelves, or tent sides in seconds. Waterproof signage protectors – Laminate your signs or slide them into plastic sheet protectors to keep branding visible. A set of towels or absorbent cloths – For drying off tables or hands after the downpour passes.
According to a study in The International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, small businesses with simple weather readiness protocols bounce back more quickly from adverse events than those without a plan — even for something as short-term as a summer storm (Dahlhamer & Tierney, 2020). 💡 Pro Tip: Keep all these items in a labeled bin in your vehicle or under your table — so it’s ready to grab and go in 60 seconds or less.
_____________________________ ⏱️ Vendor Tip 2️⃣: Tub It Right — Organize, Protect, and Transport Like a Pro If you’re still carrying your products in open boxes or bags, it’s time to upgrade to the secret weapon of organized, stress-free vendors: weatherproof plastic tubs. Here’s why seasoned pros rely on them: ✅ Protection from rain, dirt, and wind ✅ Stackable, space-saving design for tight vendor vehicles ✅ Quick load-in/load-out efficiency ✅ Color-coded systems for inventory categories (e.g., red = display supplies, blue = food products)
Brands like Rubbermaid Roughneck, Sterilite, or Husky Tough Totes are common choices for durability and lid security. Even if your market day ends with a surprise storm, your inventory and gear stay safe, dry, and damage-free. This isn't just a weather fix — it's an organization strategy. Research from Small Business Trends shows that vendors who streamline setup and teardown reduce total market-day labor by 20–30%, freeing up more time and energy to focus on selling and customer interaction (SBT, 2023). 💡 Pro Tip: Label each bin on the outside with bold waterproof stickers, and make a laminated “bin map” for quick packing and unpacking.

💬 Quote of the Week"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." – Arthur Ashe
Every vendor starts small — a table, a dream, and a whole lot of hustle. You don’t need the fanciest setup or the biggest following to make a real impact. What you do need is consistency, heart, and the courage to keep showing up. You are the heartbeat of your community — feeding families, supporting wellness, creating with your hands, and inspiring others to shop local and think different. Every market you show up to, every smile you share, and every product you offer makes your town stronger. Keep going. You matter. And we're proud to be in your corner. |
